Debden Village Shop

This remarkable enterprise was opened on 28th January 1982, the first community shop in Essex.  The shop is run for the benefit of the community, not just as a shop, but as a meeting place, a lost-property office and source of local information.  Most of the staff are volunteers.  Any offers of further help are always welcome.

The shop opens every day and staff work shifts of two hours. There are also many other volunteers working in the background, doing the plants, minor maintenance, sweeping leaves, cleaning windows/freezers/floor etc, organizing a rota, belonging to a rota run (bread on Saturday morning/ Bookers on alternative Thursday's) and numerous  other tasks which require volunteers to keep the operation running smoothly.  If you are interested in becoming involved in any way, please contact the shop on 01799 541348 and leave a message for a member of the committee.
